The trial of Dr. S. Rosenbaum, former Minister of Jewish Affairs, and President of the Jewish National Council of Lithuania, was opened here today, the charge being that Dr. Rosenbaum had without authority made use of the title of Provisional Minister of Jewish Affairs.

Dr. Rosenbaum, giving evidence, declared that he considered that he had a right to use the title “Provisional Minister of Jewish Affairs” because the President of the Republic had not accepted his resignation when he had tendered it to him.

The court decided to call the Prime Minister, M. Tumanas, to give evidence, and the trial was accordingly adjourned.

Dr. S. Rosenbaum left today for Palestine where he is settling permanently. A group of representatives of the Jewish population accompanied him to the frontier. The previous evening he was the guest of honor at a farewell banquet arranged by the officials of the Jewish National Council and the Jewish Central Bank. Dr. Rosenbaum, speaking at the banquet, declared that he was going to Palestine not to rest but to start work in a new field of activity.

Advocates Deputies Finklestein and Dr. Robison are acting in his absence for Dr. Rosenbaum in regard to the trial now pending against him.
