Dr. Stephen S. Wise will officiate at the funeral of Samuel Gompers, which will take place at nine o’clock Thursday morning from the Elk’s Club on West 43rd Street. Internment will be at the Christian Cemetery, Sleepy Hollow, at Tarrytown, New York, according to a statement of Samuel Gompers’ friend, Harry Mannes, as the decision of the American Federation of Labor.

Alexander Gompers, 68 years old, a brother of Samuel Gompers, is reported to have expressed great surprise when he learned that his brother will be buried in a Christian cemetery. He thought his brother would be buried in the family plot in Washington Cemetery near the graves of his parents, his wife and daughter. It was stated that Samuel Gompers purchased a plot at the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery only a short time ago in views of the fact that he desired to be buried near his second wife, who is a Christian.

The Gompers family received expressions of condolence from all over the country and Europe President Coolidge sent his sympathies.

Representatives of many Jewish labor unions will attend the funeral.
