English Zionists Reelect Dr. Chaim Weizmann As Honorary President

Dr. Chaim Weizmann was reelected Honorary President of the English Zionist Federation at the conference just concluded here.

Sir Alfred Mond and Rev. J. K. Goldbloom were elected Honorary Vice-Presidents, Philip Guedalla, President, and Paul Goodman. Morris Myer, Dr. Daiches, Greenberg, Burton and Phillips, Vice-Presidents.

Among the resolutions adopted is one protesting “most earnestly against the persecution and punishment to which Zionists are subjected in the Union of Socialist Soviet Republics,” and drawing “the attention of the Charge d’Affaires of the Soviet Union in London to the matter, with the request that he be good enough to transmit this resolution to the Commissar of Foreign Affairs in Moscow.”

A resolution was also adopted welcoming the decision of the Jewish National Fund Commission for Great Britain to celebrate the Semi-Jubiles Year of the Jewish National Fund by placing in this country during 5,687. 10,000 additional J.N.F. boxes, and urging every Zionist to take an active part in carrying out the task involved.

Approval was given to the establishment of the United Shekel Committee, and taking note of the request of the Zionist Executive that the minimum of 15,000 Shekolim be disposed of in this country during the current year.

Further plans for the Theatrical and Sports Field Day to be held on June 27 by the Amusement Industry Division of the New York United jewish Campaign were announced at a luncheon meeting of the division.

Harry Houdini will endeavor to liberate himself ### a strait-jacket, attempting to do it is shorter time than this fear has ever been done before, it was announced.

Work on the Hebrew School and Community Center for Mattapan. Mass, was begun.

Contributions totalling $25,000 were made at the exercises.
