Dr. Stephen S. Wise delivered two sermons on Sunday before the First Congregational Church, which is regularly attended by President Coolidge. This church worships in the local Reform Jewish Temple Sunday evenings since their church was condemned a few months ago as unsafe. The Pastor and Board of the church accepted the offer of Rabbi Abram Simon of the Temple for its use pending the reconstruction of the church.

Prayer is conducted by the church in this temple each Sunday. President Coolidge attended the forenoon service, which was not held in the temple, but in a theatre. He was not present when Dr. Wise spoke in the afternoon and evening at the temple. Dr. Wise spoke on general subjects, making only a brief allusion to the Jews, attributing their survival to faith. He referred to the Christian pers###tion of the Jews in the past. Large crowds of Christians crowded the temple for both sermons. Dr. Wise’s appearance was part of a local movement to promote good will among religious denominations.
