A fund of $3,000,000 to constitute a permanent endowment, the income from which would meet carrying charges for operating the Home of the Daughters of Jacob, started at a dinner given at the Home Thursday night to 150 donors and members of the board of trustees by Judge Otto A. Rosalsky. It was decided that the inauguration of a campaign to raise the fund should be made with a $100 per couple dinner to be given at the Hotel Astor on December 14, the thirtieth anniversary of the establishment of the Home.
An executive council was appointed as a campaign committee to raise the fund. Samuel D. Friedman is president of the Council which includes Samuel Weinstein, Moses F. Dworsky, Joseph Zelenko and Edward Potter.
Samuel D. Friedman, Judge Otto A. Rosalsky, Samuel C. Lamport, Joseph Barondess and Mrs. Samuel Bernstern addressed the meeting.
Samuel C. Lamport eulogized Mrs. Bertha Dworsky, who, until her death last year, was the President of the Home since its founding. He stated that it was necessary to create a fund to perpetuate the maintenance of the institution which houses more than 500 men and women, 200 of whom are incurables and are confined to hospital wards.
