The spirit of democracy prevailing in a large part of the Western world has penetrated into the East, as evidenced by the abolition, through an order issued today by the Transjordanian Government, of all titles such as Excellency, Pasha and Bey.

The only person who will from now on be permitted to use the title Excellency will be the Premier.
