Ozet Conference Urges Modern Standards for Jewish Colonization

The all-Ukrainian conference of the Ozet, the society for settling Jews on the land, closed its sessions here yesterday. Forty-four delegates from all parts of the Crimea were present. Mr. I. arin, one of the leaders of the Ozet, in his address to the conference emphasized the importance of the colonization work which he stated meets with sympathy in all countries.

The agricultural settlements of the Jewish peasants will be built in accordance with up to date standards from the very beginning, he said. It is necessary to introduce into the settlements more profitable branches of farming, such as viticulture. tobacco growing, orchards and dairies. It is necessary for the Jewish settlers to create a new type of agriculture which will be a model for their neighbors, he said.
