Jew Appointed Honorary Czechoslovakian Consul for Western Canada

Max Steinkopf, attorney of this city, has been appointed Honorary Consul with jurisdiction in the Prairie Provinces and British Columbia, by the Czechoslovakian Government.

An exequatur from the British Government has now been obtained, and Mr. Steinkopf will assume his consular duties at once.

Mr. Steinkopf is a member of the Council of the Winnipeg General Hospital, the Children’s Hospital of Winnipeg, a member of the Greater Winnipeg, District Council of the Boy Scout Movement, Canadian Chairman of the Anti-Defamation League of the Independent Order of the B’nai B’rith. He is Canadian Vice-Chairman of the Jewish European Orphans’ Committee, and Treasurer of the Archaeological Society of America. He was Chairman of the Jewish War Relief in Canada, and is Vice-Chairman of the two million dollar drive of the B’nai B’rith Wider Scope Committee.

Mr. Steinkopf is a native of Prague, and came to the Dominion of Canada with his parents at an early age. He was educated at the public school, Morden, Manitoba, and the University of Manitoba.
