German Statesmen of All Political Parties Form Pro-palestine Committee

A German Pro-Palestine Committee, consisting of leading statesmen of all parties, was formed yesterday at a meeting and banquet held here.

Among those present at the meeting were the Prussian Prime Minister, Braun, Minister of Religions Baecker, Speaker of the Parliament, Loebe, Count von Bernstorff, former German Ambassador to the United States; Professor Sellin, Palestine archaeologist, State Secretary Weissmann, former Federal Minister Dernburg, Professor Albert Einstein, Thomas Mann, Ministerial director Badt. Katerina Oheimb, former German chancellor Herman Mueller, Georg Sernhard, editor of the “Vossische Zeitung”; Professor Werner Sombart, author of the well known book on the role of the Jews in the de###pment of the present social order; Ednard Bernstein, Walter Schuecking, Oscar Wasserman. Consul General Landau. Dr. Breitscheid, Dr. Otto Hoetzsch and Dr. Walter Soberheim.State Secretary Puender welcomed the meeting on behalf of the chancellor, declaring that the German government is very much interested in Palestine.

At a banquet held later, at which Count von Bernstorff was the toastmaster, several addresses were delivered, including one by Kurt Blumenfeld, Zionist leader in Germany, and Dr. Leo Baeck. Minister of Religions Baecker, expressed his admiration for the upbuilding of the Jewish national home and the devotion to Palestine manifested by the Jewish people in the course of thousands of years. Palestine will be the future state of the highest humanitarian ideals, he declared.
