The journal "Kirkler III" (Turkish) reports that M. Albert Ben Chabath, has been sentenced by the tribunal of Kirklisse to 24 hours’ imprisonment for having spoken Espagnol (Judeo-Spanish).
The journal "El Judio" writes on this subject: "Kirklisse draws attention to itself by its exaggerated chauvinism. If the authorities of Kirkisse visit Bulgaria, they will see that their co-nationals here enjoy full and entire equality. The Turkith language is heard here in all places and no one thinks of forbidding the people speaking their national language. If the Turks in Bulgaria were compelled to use the Bulgarian language and sent to Prison for talking in their mother tongue, hundreds of thousands of Turks living in Bulgaria would find themselves in a very difficult position and they would not stop protesting before the civilised world against this wrong to their natural rights. If the Turks want their co-nationals living outside Turkey to be well treated by others, they should treat properly the national minorities who live in their country.
Approval of the anti-masking bill of Senator Travis Williams was voted by the Alabama Senate Judiclary Committee, with only one member dissenting. It provides a line of not less than $100 for appearing on any public street or highway with the face concealed or partly concealed. It also provides a penalty of five to twenty years in prison for the commission of any criminal offense committed while thus masked.
