The acquittal of the nine Jews held on the charge of participating in the demonstration at the funeral of the Jewish girl, Elsa Niego, will be appealed against by the public prosecutor, it was announced today.
The prosecutor declared himself dissatisfied with the verdict of the court. It is understood, however, that a rehearing of the case is not likely.
Proceedings against Osman Bey, the Turkish official who murdered the girl. have not yet been started.
The activities of the Constantinople lodge of the Independent Order B’nai Brith, which was raided by the police in connection with the trial, were not interrupted.
Many of the leaders of the I.O.B.B. in Constantinople were questioned by the authorities. The raid on the B’nai Brith lodge was a thorough one, all books and documents having been scrutinized. Nothing compromising was found.
