Nahum Sokolow, chairman of the Zionist Executive in London was received by Pope Pius XI in an audience which lasted half an hour.

It was stated that the Pope displayed great interest in the activities of the Zionist organization in Palestine and expressed his admiration for the revival of the Hebrew language. An assurance was given by the Pontiff that the Vatican will defend the Jews against persecutions.

Mr. Sokolow will be received tomorrow by King Victor Emanuel at the Royal residence at San Rossore.
