The name of Attorney General Albert Ottinger is being spoken of in Republican circles in connection with the nomination for United States Senator to succeed Senator Royal S. Copland, whose term will expire at the end of the present year.
As the only Republican candidate elected in the 1926 state elections, Mr. Ottinger occupies a commanding position in the list of aspirants for 1928 preferment Until recently the name of Attorney General Ottinger was the one most frequently mentioned among Republicans in connection with the prospective nomination for Governor of New York. With the demand by the up-State leaders of the party for more recognition in the make-up of tickets, there has been a change in the planned election lists.
The stand taken by the up-State Republicans included a demand that the next candidate for Governor should be an up-State Republican.
Bulletins on the observance by Jewish community centers and Y’s of the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and George Washington have been prepared by the Jewish Welfare Board.
