Many visitors from the United States and Palestine were present at the opening of the Seventeenth International Congress of Orientalists here today.

Among the papers to be presented during the sessions are: “On the Meaning of the Term, ‘Am Ha’Aretz'” by Dr. Daiches; “The Origin of the Hebrew Language,” by Professor Jahuda; “Semitic Verbs” by J. Cohen; “The Hebrew Conquest of Canaan” by Pro. W.F. Albright, Director of the American School of Oriental Research in Jerusalem; “The Semitic Conception of the Names of God by Professor Eissfeld.
