Anti-Jewish attacks were renewed several days ago in Chisme, district of Ismail, Bessarabia, from where anti-Jewish attacks were reported several weeks ago.

Hooligans invaded the local synagogue and set fire to the Aron Kodesh, the Ark. Five Scrolls of the Law were burned. The damages were estimated to be one million lei.

The entire Jewish press in Bessarabia openly condemns the savage vandalism and urges the authorities to institute an investigation.

Chief Rabbi Zirelson of Kishineff despatched a telegram to the Roumanian Ministry of the Interior protesting against the outrage and demanding immediate vigorous measures.

Deputy William Filderman and Senator Niemerower have intervened with the authorities in this matter.
