The Genessee Home for Jewish Orphans, after fifty years of existence in this city has been closed as a result of the decision of the executive board of the Jewish Orphan Asylum Association of Western New York, owner of the home to conform to the modern trend in child welfare work and place children who have been in the asylum under private care.

As a result of the closing of the Genessee Home, the Western New York Association will be dissolved, and its three component societies will function independently in the future.

Proceeds from the sale of the home which has already been placed with realtors, will be devoted to child welfare in some manner to be decided upon by a committee chosen at a recent executive meeting.
