Ten thousand pupile of the Jewish schools in Poland’s capital marched Friday mornig along the streets of Warsaw to the Royal Castle, Poland’s White House, and to the Belvidere Palace, the residence of Marshal Pilsudski, in celebration of the tenth anniversary of Poland’s independence.
Forty-five schools were represented in the parade, which was 3 kilometers long, and said to be unequalled. After receiving a dlegation of the marchers, President Ignace Moscicki appeared on the balcony of the Castle to respond to the acclamation of the huge Jewish throng which gathered there in patriotic exaltation. Similar scenes were enacted in front of the Belvidere Palace where Marshal Pilsudski received the delegation.
The children of the religious schools maintained under the auspices of the Orthodox Agudath Israel did not participate in the parade, refusing to march under the Zionist blue and white banner.
The association of Jewish Writers and Journalists of Poland arranged a festive meeting for Friday evening when addresses on the present and future of Polish Jewry and the Republic were delivered.
