Anti-jewish Attacks Occur in Bukowina; Part of Cuza Election Campaign

Jews Attacked in Railway Centers by “Christian League” (Jewish Telegraphic Agency)

Anti-Jewish attacks, at railway centers in Bukowina particularly in Teodresti and Kinpolu, were reported in the Czernowitz newspapers.

The attacks on Jewish passengers, perpetrated by the followers of Alexander Cuza’s “Christian League,” were a part of the election campaign. Simultaneously, the hooligans distributed appeals to the peasantry to elect the candidates of the “Christian League,” so that “we may be in a postion to expropriate the Jews and drive them out of their possessions.” The newspapers query the authorities as to why no action is taken to prevent the recurrence of such attacks.
