Ben Selling was voted Portland’s “first citizen” by members of the Portland Realty Board at their meeting at the Multnomah Hotel.

Mr. Selling’s record of gifts to charitable and social organizations and agencies, his service in public movements and his long sustained record as an ethical merchant were among contributing factors in the choice as expressed by the realtors. This is the first time the board has ever elected a “first citizen.”
