Reorganization of the New York State Federation of Young Men’s and Women’s Hebrew Associations and Jewish Communal Centers took place at a meeting of the executive committee in this city.
Opening of a permanent office in Syracuse was decided upon. A new constitution was drafted, to be submitted to local organizations for approval and vote at the next meeting of the executive group.
Five districts, with separate chairmen to be named by Bernard B. Given of Syracuse, president, were designated. These are: Southern-Beacon Newburg and Peekskill, Southwestern-Spring Valley, Middletown, Binghamton and Elmira; Capital-Albany, Schenectady, Troy, Cohoes and Hudson; Eastern-Gloversville, Glens Falls, Saratoga and Amsterdam; Western-Syracuse, Utica, Rochester and Buffalo. Aid to localities in establishing Jewish Centers will be given.
The annual convention date was changed from Armistice Day to Memorial Day week-end. The state federation decided to sponsor the second annual Jewish oratory contest, and to hold it in Albany in May.
