An effort to increase the budget of the Jewish Education Association to enable it to expand its work for the furtherance of Jewish religious education in Greater New York was announced by Israel Unterberg, president of the Association.
Mr. Unterberg announced a contribution of $10,000 from Felix M. Warburg and of $5,000 each from Joseph Leblang, Israel Miller, Mortimer L. Schiff, Israel Unterberg and Jacob Wener.
Mr. Unterberg also made public a message from Lieut-Governor Herbert H. Lehman commending highly the work of the Association and announcing his personal contribution of $2,000. Additional contributions as announced by Jonah J. Goldstein, campaign chairman of the Association were the following: Congregation B’nai Jeshurun, $2,000; Samuel H. Golding, $2,000; Max Blumberg. $1,250; Harry H. Liebovits, $1,250; and $1,000 each from Jacob H. Cohen, Max Goldstein, John Grosberg, Bernard K. Marcus, David V. Picker, Max Schwarz, Bernard Semel, A. Siegel, Jacob Sperber and Benj. Titman.
The period up to February 12 will be devoted to an intensive effort to raise the necessary funds for carrying on and expanding the activities of the Jewish Education Association.
