An appeal to the Waqf, the administration of the Moslem religious foundation holding property rights to the site on which the Wailing Wall stands, was addressed in an article published today on the front page of the “Daily Telegraph,” urging the administration to sell the pavement in front of the Wailing Wall to the Jewish people, so that a repetition of the incident at the Wailing Wall on the Day of Atonement last year be made impossible.
The article deals with Arab-Jewish relations in Palestine, and declares that conditions are vastly improving. The Arab farmer is benefiting greatly from the Jewish colonization and the introduction of modern methods of farming. The political issues in the towns have also lost their sharpness, enabling joint Arab-Jewish work in the mutual interests of the country, a thing which could not have happened some five years ago, the writer says.
