The annual convention of the Zionist Federation in Jugoslavia was opened here today. The sessions will last two days.

At the opening the Minister of Religions and Education, Alaupovic, delivered an address in which he lauded “the difficult but noble Zionist work” for the benefit and rebuilding of the Jewish land and people. Zionism, he stated, has this laudable characteristic, that it unites its own aim with a loyalty and devotion to the welfare of the countries where Jews live.

The Mayor of Belgrade, Stojadinovic, welcomed the delegates to the capital. He emphasized that the Jews of Jugoslavia enjoy the rights and privileges of full-fledged Jugoslavian citizens. “We may say with pride that Jugoslavia never knew of any serious anti-Semitic movements,” he said.

The convention unanimously voted to despatch a message of greeting to King Alexander, to Prime Minister Zivkovic and to Dr. Chaim Weizmann. Representatives of various branches of the government attended the first session.
