Another attempt to foment a ritual murder agitation on a slight pretext was frustrated today in Kartuz-Bereza, near Pruzany.

Kasia Szydlowska, a Christian girl who was employed in the local matzoth factory, disappeared for a while. Immediately the cry arose, stimulated by a local Pole, Jacob Zalewski, that a ritual murder was perpetrated for the needs of the matzoth factory. Panic overcame the Jewish community, in view of the threatening attitude manifested. In the evening Miss Szydlowska was found hidden in Zalewski’s abode.

The district authorities from Pruzany were immediately notified and the district attorney ordered an investigation against Zalewski.
