The directors of the Broadway Association of New York at a meeting held Monday evening adopted a resolution voicing their opposition to the erection of a monument to Haym Salomon, revolutionary patriot and financier, at Lincoln Square, at the intersection of Broadway and 66th Street.
John E. Grotke, managing director of the association, declared the group is not opposed to the erection of the monument in principle but merely to the proposed site, as an encroachment on park property.
Mr. Benjamin Winter, President of the Polish-Jewish Federation of America, which is erecting the monument, announced work would begin next week.
The plans for the monument were approved by the Municipal Art Committee and the site selected by it.
