A drive for $30,000 was opened here in the interests of the People’s Tool Campaign, which is affiliated with the American Ort. The sum of $30,000 represents the 1929 quota of a five-year quota of $100,000 to be raised here. Judge Jacob Panken, president of the American Ort, and Dr. Henry Moskowitz, were the principal speakers at a mass meeting at Ahavas Zion Synagogue. The meeting was also addressed by Rabbi Joseph Konvitz, Charles Levin, representing the district committee of the Workmen’s Circle, and Barnett Cohen, manager of the Newark section of “The Forward,” who heads the drive.

A women’s division is to be organized under the direction of Miss Elizabeth Blume.
