The bill for the authorization of a gift by the City of Berlin to Professor Albert Einstein on the occasion of his 50th birthday was withdraw by the City Government from the City Council where it was pending since March 14th, causing a protracted discussion and great embarrassment to the City Fathers.
The step was taken by the City Government when it was learned that Dr. Einstein definitely refused to accept the gift and that he could not be persuaded to change his mind. The Berlin press, reporting on the latest development in this case, reiterated the entire history of the offer.
