Notwithstanding the prohibition of the University authorities, the announced mass meeting of Polish students, called under the auspices of the Central Students’ Committee, was held here Saturday afternoon. No riots occurred and no resolution for the proclamation of a general students’ strike in all Polish universities was adopted. Instead, a resolution urging the introduction of a numerus clausus limiting the number of Jewish students in Polish universities was passed. Other resolutions asked the resignation of the present Minister of the Interior, General Skladkowski, for the punishment of some of the high officials of the Lemberg police and for the release of the students held for participation in the Lemberg disturbances.
A solidarity strike to support the demand for the release of the arrested Lemberg students was declared by the national democratic students in the universities of Cracow, Lublin and Posen. The students at the universities of Warsaw and Vilna declined to join the strike.
