$45,000 Raised for Toronto U. P. A. at Drive Opening

The Toronto United Palestine Appeal inaugurated its campaign Sunday evening at a banquet held at the New Royal York Hotel. Fifteen hundred guests were present. The sum of $45,000 was raised.

A. J. Frieman, president Zionist Organization of Canada; Dr. Jacob Sonderling, and Nahum Sokolow, were the speakers, Mr. Sokolow stated that in a recent interview with President Hoover of the United States, the President offered suggestions in matters relating to irrigation in Palestine.

The Hebrew Theological College of Chicago is now conducting a $250,000 campaign for the erection of a Library to house the collection of its volumes in Judaica and cognate learning.

The campaign was launched at a dinner given by Barney Balaban. Rabbi Saul Silber, President of the Hebrew College, and Harry M. Fisher. addressed the gathering. Mr. Balaban pledged $25,000.
