Louis Marshall, president of the American Jewish Committee, was operated on here yesterday by the noted surgeon Prof, Clairmont. The operation was for an abscess of the pancreas. A bulletin issued by his physicians today stated that he was making good progress. The operation succeeded in every respect.

Jacob Billikopf, Executive Director of the Philadelphia Federation of Jewish Charities, son-in-law of Mr. Marshall, Dr. Judah L. Magnes, brother-in-law of Mr. Marshall, were at his bedside.

Mr. Marshall came to Switzerland to attend the constitution meeting of the Jewish Agency for Palestine. He was taken ill right after the conclusion of the meeting.
