The eighth congress of the South African Board of Jewish Deputies met here yesterday and today in the Zionist Hall. Rev Lewis, mayor of Captown, welcomed the delegates and paid tribute to the contributions of the Jews to the progress of South Africa.
President Raphaely, in his presidential address, referred to the decrease in anti-Semitism, the smooth working of immigration, the hopeful outlook for a reduction in the nationalization fees, progress in the land settlement scheme, and the general information bureau in cooperation with all communities.
