Horses have been commandeered in the villages around Safed by the combined military and police forces tracking the brigand bands believed to be concealed in the hills between Acre and Safed. Fifty British soldiers stationed in the village of Rama have been sent as reinforcements to Acre and about 80 of the Transjordanian defence force men have been detailed to Meron, where the military are installing a wireless in the Yeshiva. The authorities are determined to prevent the spread of brigandage such as menaced the safety of Syria after the 1926 rebellion.
