Just before the Jewish Parliament Club brought in its memorandum to the government with regard to the present critical situation of Polish Jewry, the Galician Jewish deputies who were in favor of a moderate attitude towards the government won their point at the meeting of the Club. The memorandum therefore declares at the end that the Jewish deputies will maintain a policy of “watchful waiting” towards the government and will in the meanwhile refrain from voting with the Opposition.

Deputy Gruenbaum, who at the meeting of the Club had demanded a more defiant attitude towards the government, having lost to the moderates, refused to read the Jewish declaration from the tribune of the Sejm, which was therefore read by Deputy Hartglass.
