The first conference of Jewish youth at Bira Bidjan adopted severe resolutions against the Ozet, society for settling the Jews on the land, accusing it of mismanagement in not properly utilizing machinery received, in building costly but poorly constructed houses and in creating such a situation among the Jewish settlers that many of the girls became wayward in Tichonkoye.
The Central Ozet was accused by the conference of “misinforming public opinion through the Communist press on Bira Bidjan and telling everyone that everything there is rosy.” The delegates emphasized that Bira Bidjan has good prospects but not under the present management. The conference is sending a special delegation to Moscow to submit its complaints against the Ozet.
