Says Descendants of Tribe of Benjamin Found in Palestine

A settlement of the tribe of Benjamin exists in Palestine in the village of Ain-Arik and six other villages in the vicinity of Ramallah, says a report from its Palestine correspondent in the “Vienna Neue Freie Presse.” All the inhabitants belong to the Greek Orthodox Church and claim to have lived in the district since the time of Nebuchadnezzar. They have retained many ancient traditions and trace the name Ain-Arik to its connection with Hushai the Archite, the friend of David, who helped him when he fled before his son, Absolom.

King Saul belonged to the tribe of Benjamin. On the secession of the northern tribes, Benjamin remained loyal to the House of David and therefore assumed the destinies of Judea at the time of the Restoration.
