New attacks on Jews were reported today from Orgiev and Beltz. For the last two days every Jew passing in the streets of Orgiev, particularly during the evening, has been attacked by anti-Semitic students. The Orgiev police reported to Bucharest that they had arrested three Cuzists, among them the notorious anti-Semitic leader Negru who came from Kiperchen. The Cuzists had been distributing anti-Semitic manifestors. The next day the agitators were released and deported from Orgiev without punishment.
In Beltz two Jews, the brothers Lipson, were taken to the hospital after being badly injured in a street attack by students who were detained by the police. In the town of Nimeren, near Kishinev, Moishe Imekowitz and his daughter Esther were beaten by anti-Semites until they lost consciousness. Three local policemen took part in the attack saying “today we are allowed to beat the Jews”.
Both victims were taken to the hospital while the policemen have been suspended.
