The Voelkische Beobachter, anti-Semitic organ of Adolf Hitler, today launched an editorial attack on Jews in Germany and Chicago. Chicago Jewry, the Voelkische Beobachter points out as an example of how Jews “control” American cities. In its attack on German Jews, the Hitlerite organ announces that Jews will never be admitted into the National Socialists’ anti-Bolshevist camps, adding that the Hitlerites can have no united front with the Jews even in fighting Communism.
Under the headline, “Chicago, the City Without a Soul,” the Beobachter asserts that all movie houses, theatres, hotels, restaurants and a majority of the business firms are in Jewish hands. “Eighty percent of the judges in Chicago are Jews and in the municipality and courts those children of the chosen people sit selling their service mostly to Chicago’s criminal elements,” the anti-Semitic paper alleges.
Reporting that while the other national minorities in Chicago are becoming assimilated the Jews there remain the only unassimilated group, the Beobachter goes on to say that their “number of synagogues and schools is always growing while similar institutions of other racial groups are dying out. Small wonder then that America today is a paradise for all Jews. The dollar is the actual governing force there. That is why everything is corrupt.”
Chicago, and not New York is the symbol of the United States, Hitler’s organ claims. To substantiate its assertions the paper prints a number of pictures of the Jewish districts and Jewish institutions in Chicago.
Turning its attention to the Jews of Germany, the Beobachter says that every German who wants to fight Bolshevism must “first throw the Jews out of Germany and then join the Hitlerites.” In commenting on the recent ousting of a rabbi from an anti-Communist meeting he was addressing together with representatives of other religious groups, the paper asks “has Bolshevism fallen so low that there is no longer profit in it and Judas after ruining Russia is now turning anti-Bolshevik?”
