A special undersecretary for minorities will be appointed by Premier Walery Slawek as soon as he completes his new cabinet. Leading candidates for the post are Prof. Simon Ashkenazy and the Jewish deputy, Henry Rosmarin. It is likely, however, that a Jew will not be appointed, the government preferring to name a Ukrainian deputy of the pro-government bloc in view of the difficulties with the Ukrainian minority in Galicia.
