From to-day no alien immigrant will be allowed to land in Australia without a special permit issued by the Department of External Affairs. This is in accordance with the new restrictions announced early in the year, which were decided upon by the Australian Government in view of the general economic depression and increasing unemployment. The new rules issued abolish the quota system and in addition impose complete prohibition of entry upon all alien nationalities not previously subject to quota requirements.
