“The Queen and I send you our best congratulations and good wishes.” This was the message received by Lord Reading, today from the King of England on the occasion of Lord Reading’s wedding to Miss Stella Charnaud.
A crowd of nearly 500 people besieged the register’s office to witness the wedding ceremony. So great was the throng that the mounted police had to make way for Lord Reading when he arrived. Lord Erleigh, the son of Lord Reading, was his father’s best man at the ceremony. He handed the ring to Lord Reading after the brief formalities were carried out. He was also the first to congratulate the bride after the ceremony.
More than 50 guests were present in the Committee Room at the Prince-Row Registery office when the wedding ceremony took place. The room looked like a veritable garden of flowers, all the walls being lined from end to end with lilies, roses, and gladiolie.
After the ceremony, Lord Reading and his bride left for Paris where they will spend their honeymoon.
