The Central Office for affairs relating to the slaughtering of animals in the German Republic announces that the Reichstag Commission on the Penal Code has added to Paragraph 412 of the new Penal Code on which it is now working, the following clause: There shall be no penalty attached to the treatment of animals, insofar as it is

done for the prosecution of serious scientific purposes, or for fulfilling the requirements of a religious community which enjoys public rights.

The same clause was adopted by the Penal Code Commission in the last Reichstag, and has been taken over by the new Commission without any change.
