Nahum Sokolow, president of the World Zionist Organization and the Jewish Agency for Palestine, urged at yesterday’s session of the Actions Committee that the report of Lewis French, Palestine Land Commissioner, be rejected in its entirety.
Dr. Sokolow emphasized that he made this recommendation in his personal capacity.
Meier Grossman, member of the World Executive of the Revisionist Union, and outstanding in Revisionist circles, stated that the British government should have expelled Mr. French from Palestine for the reason that his recommendations are directed not only against the Jews but chiefly against Great Britain making its task in Palestine impossible and attempting to frustrate its solemn obligations to bring about the restoration of the Jewish National Homeland.
Mr. Grossman disapproved the suggestion that the Jewish Agency purchase land in Transjordania from Arab sheiks. This is a matter for direct negotiation with the British government in London, the League of Nations in Geneva and the United States.
Mr. Grossman ridiculed Dr. Arlosoroff’s praise of the High Commissioner’s understanding of Palestine problems and his sympathy toward Zionist aims. It is a mistake to believe that Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope will permit himself to be educated in Dr. Arlosoroff’s kindergarten. Moreover, it is necessary to remember that Wauchope is merely a temporary executive, while the British government will remain. Any education must therefore be applied to the British government which is neglected.
