The Rev. Louis Harris, pioneer Jewish minister, died at the age of 78.
Born and educated in London, Rev. Harris came to South Africa in 1886. From 1887 until a short time before his demise, he was engaged in Ministerial duties in Johannesburg.
He was actively identified with Jewish philanthropic and civic work.
