Jewish Girl Wins $500 Prize over 903 Contestants

A seven teen-year-old Jewish girl of this city, Grace Smelo, won a $500 prize offered by Antioch College for the best essay on “What College Is For.”

Miss Smelo, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William M. Smelo, took first place over 903 contestants.

Miss Smelo was graduated from the Cheltenham High School last spring She was a member of the debating team of her school and editor of “The Cheltonian,” student publication.
