Anti-Semitic agitators have posted bills in the streets of Antwerp calling upon the population to boycott Jewish businesses.
The agitation follows on the heels of the worst economic crisis in Belgian history, in which the Jewish population is particularly hard hit, since the Jews of Belgium have been almost entirely concentrated in two branches of industry—jewelry and diamond polishing.
Both of these branches have practically been forced out of existence by the crisis and thousands of Jews are now unemployed.
Owing to the serious general unemployment, the Jews are unable to obtain employment in other branches of industry.
