An appeal for support of the work of the Hias has been issued here by the Federation of Jewish Societies of France, in a statement signed by Rabbi Eisenstadt, Baron Alfred Ginsbourg and I. Yefroikin.

“The Federation of Jewish Societies of France addresses its fraternal Rosh Hashanah wishes to the Hias in the United States and appeals to all Jewish societies in America to support the splendid Hias work in spite of hard times,” says the appeal.

A similar appeal has been issued by Dr. Isaac Gruenbaum as president of the National Council and declares:

“The terrible situation of Polish Jewry which makes emigration one means of assisting the sufferers also renders it essential that the Hias should continue its fruitful activity especially in the present most difficult period.

“All Polish Jews in America have the sacred duty of helping the Hias carry out its responsible task,” Dr. Gruenbaum stated.

Chief Rabbi Levi of France has also sent out an appeal for support for the Hias.
