Dr. Abba Hillel Silver of Cleveland, who has been granted a sabbatical year by his congregation, “The Temple”, in recognition of his fifteen years of ministry, will sail for Europe with his family on the Italian liner Conte Grande, October 15.

Rabbi Silver plans to be abroad until the Fall holidays of 1933. He will spend considerable time in Palestine, Germany and Russia as well as in the larger Jewish centers of Eastern Europe.

A series of testimonial dinners and receptions were tendered to Rabbi Silver prior to his departure from Cleveland by many civic organizations, both Jewish and non-Jewish.

The Bureau of Jewish Education, whose president Rabbi Silver has been since its founding eight years ago, tendered a testimonial luncheon to him and presented in his honor a collection of books to the Hebrew University of Jerusalem together with an artistic book-plate. The non-Jewish clergy of Cleveland held a reception for Dr. and Mrs. Silver as well as the City Club.

The Board of Trustees of The Temple will tender a farewell banquet to Rabbi and Mrs. Silver on October 11th at the Oakwood Club of Cleveland.
