The cyclone which wrought such devastation in Cuba has taken its toll of a number of Jewish lives as well.

Three Jewish families in all resided in this city in which 1,500 were killed. Practically all members of the three Jewish families succumbed.

Victor Tshertok, his wife and two small children were drowned. Isidor Michali and his wife were saved, but their two children were drowned. Chanon Kaufman and his child were drowned, but his wife was saved.
