Modification of the school closing law, which worked hardships on Jewish students, has been ordered by the Iraq government.

The Ministry of Education has ordered the schools to absolve Jewish students from attendance of classes on both Fridays and Saturdays.

The original school law called for the closing of the schools on Friday, the Moslem Sabbath, and the resumption of classes on Saturday. The Jewish community protested against this desecration of their Sabbath and the modification resulted.
