Religious Teachers to Meet in Chicago

The second annual conference of Chicago Jewish Religious School teachers will take place on Sunday, May 14, at Temple Sholom. The central theme of the conference will be “Preparing for the Sunday School of Tomorrow”. Papers will be read by Mrs. G. L. Longini of North Shore Congregation Israel on the subject, “Principles of Progressive Education and Their Possible Application to the Sunday School”; Mrs. Clarence D. Loeb of Sinai Congregation on “Possible Improvement in Sunday School Practice”; and Sidney Guthman of Washington Boulevard Temple on “The Sunday School Teacher, His Growth and Development”. Dr. Leo L. Honor, Dr. A. M. Dushkin, Rabbi Jacob Singer, Rabbi Maurice Hirshberg, and Rabbi H. Z. Zwelling will participate in the deliberations. Rabbi Samuel M. Blumenfield, of the Board of Jewish Education will preside. The purpose of the conference is to enable Jewish Sunday School teachers to exchange experiences and review recent contributions in the field of religious education.
